Medical Weight Loss
Physician-guided weight management, including GLP-1 medications when appropriate
Weight is medical, not a matter of willpower. Our physician-guided program starts with a full evaluation, then builds a plan around nutrition, activity, and — when it is appropriate for you — prescription medications such as GLP-1s, with regular follow-up to keep you safe and on track.

Who qualifies
Is this right for you?
Our program may be a good fit if you:
Whether a service is right for you is a clinical decision you make together with your physician.
- Have a BMI of 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with a weight-related condition
- Have high blood pressure, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, or sleep apnea
- Have tried to lose weight on your own and want a medical plan
- Want to know whether a GLP-1 medication is safe and appropriate for you
GLP-1 medications are not appropriate for everyone — for example, during pregnancy, or with a personal or family history of certain thyroid cancers. Your physician will review your history before prescribing.

Insurance & coverage
What your plan may cover.
Office visits for weight management are covered by many insurance plans. Coverage for weight-loss medications, including GLP-1s, varies widely between plans and may require prior authorization — some plans cover them only for certain conditions.
We review your benefits with you, and discuss options and costs openly before you start any medication.
We accept most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, and nobody is turned down. Call (212) 888-2222 and we'll check your benefits.
Do you prescribe semaglutide or other GLP-1 medications?
When it is clinically appropriate, yes — after an evaluation with one of our physicians. We do not prescribe without seeing you and reviewing your history.
Will my insurance cover weight-loss medication?
It depends on your plan. Some plans cover GLP-1 medications for certain conditions or with prior authorization, and others do not. We help you check.
What side effects should I know about?
GLP-1 medications commonly cause nausea, stomach upset, or constipation, especially early on. Your physician starts at a low dose and adjusts gradually.
Do I have to take medication?
No. Many patients succeed with a structured nutrition and activity plan and medical follow-up alone. Medication is one option, not a requirement.
How often are follow-up visits?
Usually every few weeks at first, especially while doses are adjusted, and less often as you progress.
I have prediabetes. Which program is right for me?
You may benefit from our Diabetes Prevention Program, medical weight loss, or both. Your physician will help you choose.
